Transition Visits
During the summer term, our Year 7 team will visit each primary school to meet our prospective Year 7 students and their Year 6 teachers. These conversations are hugely important as they help us find out more about your child and how we can best support them to make their transition to secondary school successful.
Transition lessons
For students from our feeder primary schools: We will be arranging for teachers from our Science, English and Language departments to provide a short lesson at your child’s primary school in the summer term.
Bridging Day
Thursday 26th June 2025: 9am -12.10pm
For students from our smaller primary schools:,Instead of providing lessons at their school, we will be inviting students into SWCHS for a Bridging Day to receive the same lesson content and to provide interaction with other students from smaller school settings.
Students will take part in two projects: one in Science and one in English. These projects then form the basis of the first lessons in September for Year 7 English and Science.
Further information will be emailed to the parent/carer nearer to the day and attendance is by invitation only.
Taster Day
Friday 27th June 2025: 8.15am -3pm
We understand that moving from primary to secondary school can be both an anxious and exciting time for students. Having the opportunity to get to know other students, meet teachers, navigate the school site, and find out more about the logistics of the school day before the summer holiday can help make students feel more comfortable about their arrival in September.
This is a great opportunity for you to get to know the people and places which will play an important part in your lives at SWCHS, particularly your tutor group! Further details will be sent by email nearer to the day.

Prospective year 7 parent/carers welcome evening
Monday 30th June 2025: 7.00pm - 8.30pm
For Parent/Carers to attend only: The evening provides information on what we offer as a school, covering key topics such as subjects, homework, behaviour, SEN, pastoral support and allows the opportunity to meet with the Year 7 Team, along with key members of our Senior Leadership Team.
