Jack Petchey Award Winners
Year 13 students Seth and Peter both used the first lockdown period to help others and by doing so, have achieved Jack Petchey Awards in recognition for their efforts. Seth Burns contacted each senior citizen who had attended the SWCHS annual party to see how they were coping during lockdown. He created shopping lists for those who needed additional help and delivered various items across the community including essential medicine and groceries. For many, Seth became a vital help throughout the lockdown period. Meanwhile, Peter took The Proclaimers Song I’m Gonna Be literally by walking 500 miles to Scotland in two weeks. As a result of his efforts, Peter raised over £7600 for the children’s trust, who help disadvantaged children in London.
We are very proud of both Peter and Seth for their incredible efforts for the community and as a result of their achievement, SWCHS will receive £500. Seth and Peter have chosen the spend the money on a new PA system for the Sixth Form and to help fund the community initiatives taking place during the annual Charities’ Week.
