Sixth Form Sport
Sport and PE in the Sixth Form at SWCHS can be whatever students want it to be …competitive, recreational, or just a sociable experience.
Electives take place on Wednesday afternoons and, depending on a student’s sporting preference, will only keep students busy during Period 5 on this day. Alternatively, if students commit to the competitive option, they may be required to travel and play during lunch hours and indeed past the end of the school day.
We run senior teams in rugby, football, men’s and ladies’ hockey, basketball and netball. However, this is determined by the number of students opting in, which often means we have more than one team in rugby and football in particular. All teams play in their respective district, county or national competitions. The rugby and football teams tour every two years, normally to Italy.
Recreational and social activities start at 2.15pm and finish at the end of school. They include badminton, trampolining, use of the fitness suite, social football and aerobics. This year, for the first time, we had a girls’ running group, which worked well.
Twelve PE staff are timetabled for the sports Electives afternoon. We would love to see as many students as possible there.
