Governing Body
Welcome from the chair of Governors
Saffron Walden County High School's local governing body (LGB) is responsible for ensuring that the school meets its strategic aims. The LGB aims to ensure that students are attending a successful school that provides them with an excellent education and supports their well-being.
The Governing Body is accountable to the Saffron Academy Trust board and at a local level they:
- Help to formulate the school’s strategy
- Act as a critical friend to the school
- Hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of education it provides.
The governors work as a collaborative body and make decisions as a group. We have two main sub-committees, Resources & Staffing and Standards & Education, both of which are chaired by members of the governing body. The LGB and its two main committees each meet at least once per term. From time to time, particular issues or areas of development may need focused governor involvement and, in these situations, governors will form a working party that will liaise with a key member of staff at the school. Some governors are assigned a subject or area link role and liaise with Area Co-ordinators in order to improve their understanding and knowledge of the area and its priorities for development. Governors have links with key members of staff and have a regular dialogue with them to keep in touch with the everyday activities of the school.
