British Values
We place great importance in the work we do at Saffron Walden County High to prepare our students to be positive and engaged citizens in our multi-cultural and multi-faith country. We celebrate diversity and we have appointed diversity champions to lead our school community in this. It is a requirement that key ‘British Values’ are taught in all UK schools. These values are identified as:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and also Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
Here, we address these important values in lessons, in our PSHEE programme, in our assembly programme and through our Community Code. We also invite external speakers to come in to speak on some of these vital issues on occasions such as our Year 9 Politics Day. We audit our provision to ensure all students can develop a thorough understanding of these values and their importance to modern Britain.
We also have a comprehensive careers education programme. The CEIAG programme at SWCHS aims to inspire students to make informed and appropriate choices and plans for their future career choices, for Further and Higher Education, and ultimately for work; you will find further information about this if you follow the link on the left hand side of this page
