Hello Year 6 Students and Parents/Carers

Welcome from the 2024-2025 Year 7 Team, Mrs Fox (centre), Miss Muir (right) and Mrs Yarrow (left).

Mrs Fox is the Year Achievement Coordinator (YAC). Miss Muir is the Deputy YAC and Mrs Yarrow is the Student Support Officer.

It is our job to oversee the academic achievement and wellbeing of the year group during the five years leading up to your GCSE exams.

Bridging Day   - Thursday 27th June 2024, 9am -12.10pm

(attendance by invitation only, smaller primary school's)

This day is for students who have not had a lesson at their primary school from SWCHS staff. During the day students will take part in two projects: one in Science and one in English. These projects then form the basis of the first lessons in September for Year 7 English and Science.

Students should not arrive before 8.55am. Students should be dropped off outside reception (main entrance to the school on Audley End Road) where a member of staff will be there to greet them.

Students can be collected from outside reception at 12.10pm. Please do not arrive on site before 12.00pm.  Please make sure that your child has signed out at reception before leaving the school site.

Please bring a healthy snack, water bottle and wear current primary school uniform.

Taster Day - Friday 28th June 2024, 8.15am -3pm
(all Year 6 students)
We look forward to welcoming you to our school for your Taster Day! This is a great opportunity for you to get to know the people and places which will play an important part in your lives at SWCHS, particularly your tutor group! Please wear your primary school uniform and bring basic stationery. A hot lunch is available for £2, or bring a packed lunch.  You will remain in your tutor groups all day, so you will start making friends ahead of the Autumn term in September!

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to SWCHS!

The Year 7 team for September 2024 cohort are currently supporting our Year 11's through their GCSE's. Please direct any enquiries to Mrs L Edwards until July.

Preloved Uniform Event -Wednesday 26th June 2024, 4pm-6pm
We will be holding a ‘drop in’ evening for parents/carers and prospective students to visit our second-hand uniform shop, based within our PE block. This is an opportunity to buy heavily discounted preloved school uniform and/or PE kit, subject to availability of items and sizes.

Summer task/Ice Breaker Activity
The first day of school for Year 7 will be on Wednesday 4th September 2024. On this day, we would like students to bring in a minimum of two items to share with their peers and tutors during form time activities. Examples of what this may look like could be a holiday postcard, a sporting medal, or an example of a hobby or interest,
